 SDP

You're missing information if you're not reading your magazines: In the Winter issue that just came out, there is a survey on page 149 of the Decorative Painter that is due by Feb. 15th and completing the survey qualifies you for a chance to win $50 worth of SDP merchandise of your choice. It would be nice if the majority of our chapter answered the survey about the magazine to let them know what we are interested in seeing. ($50 dollars worth of free merchandise is a nice prize too!)

Cactus Wren Achievement Award

It is not too early to be thinking about your nomination for the 2010 Achievement Award recipient. The deadline is the April meeting, however, those past recipients will gladly take your nomination early. On the nomination form, tell us why this member deserves this award using the following criteria. The nominee must be a member in good standing with both Cactus Wren and the Society; what has this nominee done to further the Society of Decorative Painters; and what has this member done in our chapter that is over and above what our normal members do. No one is eligible for this award more than once. Nomination forms will be available at the Membership table or click here and print out a form.

Thank you from your past recipients of this award.

Exchanges

What a fabulous exchange in February! The necklaces were beautiful, creative and I can't tell you how disappointed I was that I couldn't participate because my necklace remains 3/4 done on my paint table...I guess that's what happens when your daughter flies in from college!  What was your excuse?  I Hope we are not being lazy?????? Good news! MY EGG IS DONE! Is yours? February is a short month...let's not let daily distractions keep us from participating in a Cactus Wren tradition.  Many members have beautiful collections from participating through the years...I started last year so I have one so far! How many do you have?
Wooden eggs were available for sale at the meeting...if you didn't get one...Michaels has them, so, no excuses! Plus we have a very fun party favor for all who play!
Once your egg is done, get started on your dessert box. You will have an extra month to complete this project so don't delay.
Dessert box exchange will be held in May.
We have soooo much talent and creativity in this chapter...here's a chance to show it off!

See you in March!

Upcoming Exchanges:
March- Painted egg .... Spring theme
May- Dessert box with the dessert included .... artist choice of surface
September- Painted Clip board
October - Fall theme .... artist choice of surface
November - Painted Ornament .... artist choice of surface

Your committee will have clip boards for sale in April/May. May is our Tea event and we decided dessert was much easier to plan than a full lunch to exchange but the vessel to hold the dessert is the same concept as the lunch box auction we have done in the past. However, this will be an exchange not an auction.

Just keep painting!

Thanks for volunteering to welcome guests and new members and make them aware and more comfortable at our meetings!

Thank you!
